back from monterey…
…and another year of TED.
The conference was wonderful, of course, and a welcome chance to meet new friends and visit with old ones. This year was maybe a touch too big: the community felt diluted. It’s a tough balance between bringing in fresh ideas and losing the shape of a thing.
I’m on information overload – no matter how many times I think I’ll be able to blog through TED, it doesn’t happen. It doesn’t last longer than a day and a half before I’m overwhelmed, overinspired, and overextended. I have a lot to say about it, and I may get around to posting more, but in case I don’t, here’s what everybody else thought.
I’ll close with this amazing thought from the Dali Lama, by way of Phil Borges. It rang especially true for me after spending time in the presence of a person who had treated me quite badly in the past, and for whom I now felt only sadness and sympathy:
“Treat your enemies as if they were precious jewels, because they are the ones who build your tolerance and patience on the road to enlightenment.”

Wish I could have been there…though I would have probably been dilutive!

Yeah, yeah. Next year you’re coming if we have to drug you and drag you.
